Hmm, I've always wanted to solo something in uw with my ranger but never had the spare cash to try and firgure out a build myself and I'm not a huge fan of trapping. I'll give this a shot.

not to be flaming here but this build could be improved , change inferno for flame djinn's haste, dodge for armor of earth , will get you a better defense
Also lower your Expertise to 11 and put in earth , think you will have a better chance of surviving doing that

tell me
what is going to protect you against their Zealots fire?
the grasps won't be a great problem i think with your glyph
i also think that you can take a -2dmg while in stance can be handy on a shield since you'll use alot of stances to avoid getting killed
at your equipment you're saying a +5 energy weapon and under it a fire wand
the fire wand seems a better choice then the +5 energy weapon
but still
none too shabby
good work on the build

I know the build's not perfect. It works in it's current form and surviving hasn't been an issue yet, but, as mastar said, it could be better. I posted it here hoping for constructive criticism and got my wish. Thanks guys!

I'll admit, my reasoning for not using Flame djinn's was something like "I'm lazy and I already have inferno." I like the Armor of Earth idea. I'll give it a shot tonight.

I'm guessing the +30 against elemental damage on Rangers' armor kept me from getting demolished. I've always survived, but it's been kinda close a couple of times.
EDIT: Zealot's Fire doesn't deal damage as often as I thought. It usually hits 4 times or less per group of Smites and deals 22 damage each time.

You, sir, are absolutely correct. I shall henceforth lay aside the booze whilst playing Guild Wars.
EDIT: After some more testing with the original build, I've discovered that it's normal to finish a group of 5 Smites with 100-200 health remaining (assuming 560 max health). I still haven't died using the original build unless I really screwed something up.
A second version of the build can be found at the bottom of the same userpage I linked to in the OP. It offers great protection against the Graspings and Smites, and is probably safer. The Nightmares' enchant removal and Armor of Earth's self-snare can be annoying, but that's about it.

Awesome build, works very well.
I did take a bit of damage mainly because I thought it would be clever to take Lightning Reflexes (my skill!) , but I never came close to death.

May I add that for 5 Jade Bracelets, Jung Zeng can also give you the same Flame Artifact that Honglei Sun, the Maatu Keep weaponsmith, provides.
Nice build, I'd like to try this one out too sometime!

I'm glad it's working for you guys that have tried it. I overhauled the page and ditched the Dodge/Zojun's Haste version. Hopefully the usage section is a bit more informative now too.

Thanks! I had forgotten all about collectors.

I kill one Smite group at a time, so my runs usually take 18-20 minutes. If you're looking to reduce that time, I know the build can take two groups at one time without a problem, so 3 or maybe 4 groups may be possible, but 4 might be pushing it.

Interesting, but it seems very unsafe. A bit improvement there and you've got a nice UW solo build.

This build isn't as resilient as a Terra Tank, and you do end up taking some damage. However, with both Whirling Defense and Armor of Earth, you've got plenty of defense for killing Smites and Graspings.

Ok, after wasting an awfull lot of money on dying in UW, I'm finally trying to understand how this build is working (and how I have to walk ._.) but there is one little thing annoying me, "Dying Nightmares".
What do you guys do with them ?

There is only a set amount of dying nightmare spawns, most people who have farmed UW regularly know where they spawn.
Dying Nightmares don't really affect the build. You may get snared when they remove your enchantment when running to the smites, but its no big deal seeing as you can just throw the enchantment back on.
They don't affect the build in my opinion, your defense is not heavily relied on enchantments like the elementalist terra tank.
